STUDIO
FORMED IN 1981 by James Tiebout, a graduate of the College of Graphic Arts and Photography at RIT, TEBO Design‘s first client was an oil & gas company. Brochures, marketing material and 40 x 60 inch 4-color maps were created for them.
The non-profit field provided an area of growth for the studio, and work was done for various arts organizations. A founding member of the Houston Center for Photography, Tiebout designed posters, invitations, exhibition catalogs and their magazine, SPOT, through the early 2000s.
The studio further diversified its base by adding clients from the profit sector: corporate, law and small businesses.
The studio’s design work has grown from this cross fertilization of projects and ideas. We have strived to stay current with technological changes in the field and the needs of our clients, from the introduction of the Macintosh and the evolution of design software to our work creating websites.
The principals of typography and design are at the heart of our work, enriched & expanded by the new tools and technologies.
James is currently teaching 2 graphic design classes at the University of Houston Downtown for their new degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts (BAFA).

The two wings of the building are separated by a courtyard that has a koi pond, a water oak and 30 foot tall crepe myrtles that create a calm and reflective space in the midst of the city.
