GSI is an environmental engineering firm which specializes in the assessment and management of environmental risk. The studio has worked with the company on numerous projects since their formation in 1986, from marketing material to software packaging. One project completed for them was the redesign of their logo. They changed their name from Groundwater Services, Inc. to GSI Environmental, to better communicate the range of services they provide. The design criteria included the use of the wave form from the old logo, which had to be incorporated in the new logo. This helped create a smooth transition to the new logo while maintaining the identity and reputation that had been created through their work. The typefaces used are Scala and Scala Sans, with their crisp geometry and humanist references.
